About the film

Documentary performed by the "Memórias do Esporte" program to debut on ESPN , which will depict the life of the Brazilian Paralympic athlete Terezinha Guilhermina , who won, next to your guide, Guilherme Santana, two gold medals in the 100m and 200m events for the blind.

Synopsis

The Podium Waltz is a documentary about the brazilian athlete Terezinha Guilhermina, a runner who is practically blind, and her guide, Guilherme Santana. Together they won many competitions around the world, including two gold medals in the 2012 London Paralimpic Games. Terezinha was born in a very poor family, and soon discovered a talent for sports that would change her life. One day, when she needed a guide, Guilherme appeared. The team was complete and ready to run!.

Director Bruno Carneiro

Bruno Carneiro graduated in Film and Vídeo at the School of Communication and Arts at University São Paulo (ECA-USP). Working as a filmmaker since 1997, he has directed five short-films: O tempo dos objetos (Newcomer Award at Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival and Best Script at Brasilia Film Festival), Carregar uma Criança (Newcomer Award at Cuiabá Short Film Festival, Best Picture Award granted by ABD-RJ at Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival, Best Sound at Belo Horizonte Short Film Festival), Esboço para Fotografia (Best Cinematography ar Jornada de Cinema da Bahia), Infidelidade and Rec, Pause. Has also directed thirteen documentaries: A Valsa do Pódio (co-directing with Daniel Hanai, through the grant Memória do Esporte Olímpico Brasileiro), seven episodes of the series Obra Revelada (Instituto Cultural Itaú), Mestres da Literatura – Lygia Fagundes Telles (TV Escola), O Saber Tradicional (TV Cultura de São Paulo), and three episodes of the series Expresso Brasil – Acre, Mato Grosso e Rio Grande do Norte (TV Cultura de São Paulo).

Director Daniel Hanai

Daniel graduated in engineering with a master's degree in social communication. Has been working as a cultural manager at SESC since 2001. He produced the documentary film Baile do Carmo and directed the following short films: A Vacalhada (animation, 2001) and PowerPoint (fiction, 2009).
